Organico Organic French Cooked and Peeled Chestnuts 200g
Organico’s chestnuts are cultivated from the most famous chestnut area in Europe, Ardeche and gathered by over 90 organic growers and co-ops.
The Ardeche provides optimum conditions for the chestnuts to grow, acidic and chalk free soil at a slight altitude. The chestnuts are harvested and processed once a year during Autumn. During the process, different varieties of chestnuts are cooked on a fire, with the outer skin removed by hand, the chestnuts are then placed in boiling water and the inner skin is removed by jet sprays. This is to preserve the taste and nutritional qualities of the chestnut.
A sweet, nutty flavour with a delicate crunch, they can be used hot or cold in either sweet or savoury dishes at any time of the year.
